We’re looking for a friendly, thoughtful Online Community Engagement Volunteer to help bring more life and conversation into our Facebook group.

About the role

This is a social and creative volunteer role for someone who enjoys asking big questions, encouraging reflection, and helping people feel welcome online. You’ll help nurture a more engaged, thoughtful online community by starting regular discussions, sharing relevant content, and responding to posts.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate engaging posts (e.g. questions, polls, prompts)
• Encourage respectful, Stoic-aligned discussion
• Respond to comments and welcome new members
• Share articles, videos, or event updates (with guidance from the board)
• Work with the board to align posts with upcoming events or themes

What we’re looking for

• Comfortable using Facebook groups and basic post formatting
• Friendly, inclusive tone and good communication skills
• An interest in Stoicism and philosophical discussion
• Reliable and proactive: regularly posting and commenting
• Some experience moderating or managing online communities is a bonus, but not essential

This role is perfect for someone with a knack for writing, editing, and sharing content in a clear and engaging way. The Newsletter Manager will help shape our organisation’s voice and ensure members are informed about upcoming events, new resources, and opportunities to get involved.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and send a regular email newsletter (monthly or bi-monthly)
• Highlight upcoming events, recent recordings/resources, Stoic quotes, or community updates
• Coordinate with the board and event organisers for content and scheduling
• Maintain and grow the email list using our mailing platform (e.g. Mailchimp)
• Optional: suggest new ideas or formats for improving the newsletter

What we’re looking for

• Clear, concise writing style with good attention to detail
• Organised and reliable, able to meet flexible monthly deadlines
• Familiarity with tools like Mailchimp or Substack (or willingness to learn)
• Interest in Stoic philosophy is helpful, but not required
• A collaborative mindset and basic digital skills

This is a remote, supportive role for anyone who enjoys reading Stoic texts and curating memorable quotations. Our dedicated team of “Stoic geeks” collects thought-provoking quotes and suggested readings around themed topics (e.g. justice, forgiveness, resilience) that inform discussions at our meetings and events.

Key responsibilities

• Explore classical and modern Stoic literature to gather impactful quotes on pre‑agreed themes
• Provide context: brief notes on author/source, relevance to each theme, and short reflections
• Submit contributions on a regular but flexible basis—approx. 1–2 themed batches/month
• Collaborate with the board and project leads to match quotes to upcoming discussion topics or events

What we’re looking for

• Genuine interest in Stoic philosophy (no academic credentials required)
• Comfort reading, discovering, and summarising Stoic texts
• Attentive to context, accuracy, and relevance
• Reliable and organised, able to meet loose deadlines
• Introverted, reflective, and happy to work behind the scenes
