Explore the Stoic wisdom
If you attend one of our stoa meetings* you will get a chance to borrow a book from our Stoic Community Library and return it the next month.
Each month stoa members vote for the next book to be purchased from the charity’s funds. People can contribute by donating directly to Archimedes the Owl’s belly during our meetings or through PayPal online.

*Currently the Stoic Community Library is only available at the Stoa Akrokorifi (Edinburgh). We hope to expand the library scheme to other cities as our other communities continue to grow.
Stoic wisdom for every reader
This library presents a curated selection of Stoic texts and insights, designed to deepen your philosophical knowledge and practical application.

Ancient Stoicism
A significant portion of our library consist of core classical Stoic texts, such as Discourses (Epictetus), Meditations (Marcus Aurelius) or Letters (Seneca).

Modern Stoic life
The library also contains a lot of books written by modern authors for general public consumption, e.g. biographies of Marcus Aurelius by Donald Robertson or “Breakfast with Seneca” by David Fideler.

Academic Stoicism
For those who are more experienced with Stoicism or would like to delve deeper we have several more academic books, e.g. “The Therapy of Desire” by Martha Nussbaum or “Stoicism and Emotion” by Margaret Graver.
